For honorary academics

Considerable portions of the University’s clinical student teaching are undertaken by personnel working for and in the Auckland District Health Board. These critical academic contributions are usually acknowledged by the offer of honorary academic titles. Many Auckland DHB staff are also active health researchers, and the University also acknowledges these activities with honorary status.

Levels of honorary titles (up to Honorary Professor) broadly represent comparable levels of academic achievement to those of paid University staff. Many clinical academics have honorary positions in the Auckland District Health Board, recognising the rich resources of teaching, clinical and research skills shared across both institutions.

Through their honorary status, staff of the Auckland District Health Board are able to access the University’s intranet and library resources via their staff affiliation.
